One of the key themes of our project is to try and use recycling in our work with young people. This is the case with our bike work where the project uses donated bikes from the public or obtains them from Police Forces so that young people can fix them and then make them available to the public.
Bike Donations
Changing Gearz gives old bikes a new life while helping young people learn new skills and support their community.
The changing Gearz project was built on bike donations and will continue with the same process for the duration of the project. We are open to receiving good quality bike donations which are brought to the workshop. These bikes will be refurbished by the young people and resold to the community, in some cases donated back to those individuals and families in need of support.
Volunteering with us
Help us make a difference!
Changing Gearz has previously provided volunteering opportunities to members of the public who have the skills and interest in supporting young people and fixing bikes and helping the project have a positive impact on young peoples and the greater community. The project desperately needs some help with some of the initial practical activities needed in the bike project that is helping to strip down bikes; and reconstruct them, and a range of small-scale building work to ensure the building is best served to support young people!
The Changing Gearz project is registered with Torfaen Voluntary Alliance and with the Wales Council for Voluntary Action and is delighted to offer the opportunity for members of the public to volunteer with the project in a number of potential ways.
